  • Group of friends

The hotel's central location for sightseeing. Excellent choice and quality of evening meals in the dining room. Bedroom and bathroom spacious and clean.

Lack of variety of fresh fruit for breakfast, especially the provision of mixed fruit salad.

  • Group of friends

The location of the hotel was excellent. The receptionist was extremely helpful and arranged a reservation and transport to a nearby restauraunt for us.There was an outdoor snack and bbq area which was a great idea for visitors to the area who wanted to grab a snack at quite reasonable prices.

The hotel itself is quite dated but other people would consider it charming and quaint I suppose so each to their own! The hotel common areas such as the bar/pub grub area were quite basic and lacked atmosphere. The breakfast was quite disorganised and ran out of food before breakfast was over which was unfortunate for the later people who were still arriving within breakfast hours.

The location is great as Glendalough is on the doorstep. The breakfast was also nice and the rates aren't too bad either.

Where to start..the hotel needs a huge makeover because it is shabby inside, and my room had dirty stained carpet, a velux window with battered curtains, no air-conditioning, there was also no signal for "wi- fi" in the hotel. The tv also only had 5 random channels to watch and the staff were a bit "yeah whatever" and took their time with everything...

  • Older travelers

The food was excellent, and the hotel staff very helpful.

The room that we got was over the front door !!! The noise at night was excessive, with doors banging and cars arriving up to 3 am the morning, I tried to get a different room but was told there was none except smoking.

  • Couple

Location is unbeatable. Bar food excellent. Reception staff wonderful.

A member of the bar staff was rude but that is no reflection on the hotel overall. I'd a great time. Love the hotel.

  • Older travelers

Location and proximity to the Monastic sites was really very good.Very Picturesque setting.

The Bar is not very atmospheric and the decor is bland. The food in the restaurant is bland with the breakfasts being particularily so.

  • Group of friends

beautiful location, breakfast was great, quaint and charming old lodge

  • Family with children

The best part of staying at this hotel was the nature walk that we booked when we arrived. It was advertised in the hotel lobby; Excellent tour of the surrounding area and the Glendalough ruins/lakesFood in the dining room was delicious.

Furnishings were old, everything had a shabby air about it in the room

The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the beautiful surrounding areas. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

  • Family with children

    location is outstanding.

Food was average and expensive. Restaurant bill had to be queried on every occasion. I received a quote from the hotel for an extra night's stay - on check out I was billed almost double the quoted price. In future I will stay nearby and drive in to Glendalough for a day trip.

Had to wait for food long while-serevice poor

  • Group of friends

The location is in the heart of some beautiful walking areas in the valleys and mountains. The historical scenery is also very rich and awesome. The staff and people of the area are very, very friendly and helpful. In fact, we came back to stay on the last night of our visit in Ireland.

THis is such a beautiful, popular site that the car traffic and limited parking became challenging on the weekend. However, it would not keep me away.

  • Group of friends

The location is beyond compare. The reception staff friendly and helpful , as were most of the staff.

The bar area was understaffed at times making service slow. There did not seem to be anyone taking control and ensuring the staff could cope and the customers were being looked after. the hotel did not have the feeling of being looked after. Some areas especially outside were not cleared of dirty glasses and empty bottles for two days. These are not complaints just observations of some one who cares.

Poor Mobile Phone Reception (Not really a problem !)

  • Older travelers

Location and dining experience both of which were excellent. Also parking was very adequate.

    Signposting could do with improvement.
